What will your family -- or your family business -- look like 100 years from today?
“Stan” was a high-powered executive who had retired from a Fortune 100 company, but was still a very active member of several boards of directors. He also had a number of private ventures — including a philanthropy — that demanded his time and attention.
When his insurance advisor suggested that he met with us, Stan insisted that he had already done his planning. Finally, though, he agreed to a meeting, during which he had an assistant bring in the folder which contained all of his estate and wealth planning documents. The folder contained a will, some trusts and a few other things.
To Stan’s surprise, not one of those documents was in final form; each and every one was marked “draft.” Additionally, some of the elements Stan expected to find in that folder had never even been created. Needless to say, that initial meeting was extended — and led to several more.
Sage360 Advisors created a comprehensive plan helped Stan articulate his vision and engage his family in it. We then assembled his original advisory team — CPA, attorney, insurance advisor, investment advisors and banker — to execute the elements of the plan.
The folder Stan had brought in during that first meeting has been replaced by a Blueprint, which he and his advisors consult regularly.
It takes hours to assemble a plan; it takes a lifetime to build the values that support it.
